Student Stories: Pyrene Pelayo Domingo

Writer's picture: OCA Student AssociationOCA Student Association

Pyrene Pelayo Domingo is an OCA Music student studying Music 1.1: Exploring Music.

"I was born in 2006 in Alt Empordà, Catalonia. I began studying violin when I was four years old, and piano when I was seven years old (even though my first contacts with it go back to my three years of age). I'm also a singer and a beginning composer."

Find out more about her experience as a student of OCA below.

What is your previous educational experiences and what drew you to OCA?

I obtained an American high school diploma in 2023. I came to the OCA searching for an online Music degree which allowed me to continue devoting enough time to my everyday practice on the piano and the violin.

Can you describe your OCA journey?

I'm really happy and enthusiastic about my studies at the OCA. I haven't encountered any major challenges, but I've learned a lot so far.

What was the Tutor and/or Peer Support like on your course?

I think that interaction with tutors and peers is really excellent.

What does studying with OCA mean to you?

It means an opportunity to develop myself as a person and as a musician, and to meet people and their work and hopefully to be able to collaborate with them.

What's next?

I would very much like to study for a PhD, even though I'm not sure yet how nor where. With the Grade 8 exams for both violin and piano I'm preparing for (ABRSM), I would aspire to a Fellowship of the ABRSM, even though I still need to investigate how this works.

Any advice?

Take it easy! And listen to as much music as possible...

Where can we find you?
