Welcome to the group!

Taking inspiration from the Maternal Journal this is a space to share and explore experiences of pregnancy, birth and mothering. This is a supportive community, open to all types of mothers, birthing parents and non-binary carers. A possible space to discuss and explore maternal theory & feminism within arts & culture and to collaborate creatively to unpack the intersectional of identity of being a (m)other and it's impact on work and studying. If there is interest, this will be a tutor facilitated space in the 23/24 academic year.

Representations of care in photography

Online event: 5 April 12 - 1.30pm

This online talk with Australian artists Ying Ang, Odette England and Lisa Sorgini, chaired by Curator Susan Bright, will explore themes of family, care, motherhood, place and belonging. The care provided by women so often goes unnoticed and unacknowledged. In this online talk, we will hear from leading Australian artists who use their artistic practice to challenge preconceived ideas and the frequent misrepresentation of motherhood, childbirth and family.
