About the Event

Join Photography tutor Andrea Norrington online on Saturday 12th August at 10am for a bookmaking workshop using sustainable materials.

The session is an opportunity to explore how we can use waste materials to make simple books that can be used as sketchbooks, writing journals or notebooks.

There will be time in the session to make your own book(s) - materials required are listed below.

If you prefer, you can just watch the session and then make your own later. No previous experience is required.

 Materials needed:

  • Surface to cut on (cutting mat or similar)
  • Cutting knife - Stanley type knife or retractable blade craft knife - it is possible to use scissors if you don’thave a knife
  • Ruler (metal, or metal edged is essential if using a Stanley knife/retractable blade craft knife)
  • Pencil
  • Awl or needle/pin
  • Thread, scrap wool or string
  • Glue - Pritt Stick or similar is fine for the workshop
  • Scrap paper - could be packaging paper, envelopes, printer rejects, scrap artwork
  • Card and cardboard - thin card eg. cereal box; thick eg. cardboard box
  • Bone folder (if you don't have a bone folder a teaspoon/spoon or lolly stick will work)

The session will be recorded and a PDF of instructions will be provided after the workshop.
